"I wish I could find a therapy practice management book that focuses on practical marketing techniques to build and maintain a self-pay practice and ways of managing a practice more efficiently."

I am a solo practitioner and have been managing my own practice for eight years.

I wish I could find a therapy practice management book on that will give me insight in managing a small healthcare practice without relying on managed care for reimbursement.

I constantly run into the same problems, mainly managed care issues and lousy reimbursement schedules.

My income has not grown at all since the year 2000 because managed care rate schedules have not changed since I started my practice.

I often hear about other local practitioners who do not accept insurance and only work with self-paying patients.

As a psychotherapist who sees people on a weekly basis, I cannot fathom how I can attract a clientele that can afford to pay out of pocket for services that are already covered under their insurance plans.

I would love to know how to better market and position myself to make it worth it for a patient to forgo using their benefits in order to utilize my services.

My office is in a very wealthy part of Long Island, New York, but I seem to get patients who struggle even to make their co-payments, let alone pay in full for their sessions.

Additionally, when patients forget thier appointments or cancel at the last minute, it costs me.

It becomes an issue between the therapist and the patient when I charge for last minute cancellations.

It is quite disruptive to the therapeutic relationship, especially when I am dealing with patients who have are struggling financially.

I would like to develop the business management skills to deal with these types of practice-related issues.

I would love to locate a therapy practice management book that focuses on practical marketing techniques to build and maintain a self-pay practice and ways of managing a practice more efficiently.
