If you are looking to create a business website, then never forget this often overlooked rule of thumb...simplicity is key in all you do.

I can't tell you how often I've been to a website and had to click off suddenly because it was just too complicated to navigate.

You see, when you are looking to create a business website, keep in mind the needs of your target audience.

Don't assume that all of your targeted web visitors will have brand-new speedy computers.

In fact, I have an older computer, so those websites that have lots of music and pictures it sometimes bogs my computer down to the point that it just freezes up.

(Music will do it more so than pictures so I prefer there to be no music on the website.)

So, when you begin to create your business website, keep these few useful website tips in mind:

Tip One: Your website should be simple to navigate.

I don't like have to search through extra info just to get to the sitemap.

I want the site map on the first page and be self explanatory to get you where you want to go on the site.

Tip Two: Be overly cautious when using thumbnails on your site.

I don't like having to click on thumbnail pictures to see the picture especially several thumbnails on one page just takes too long.

I prefer a headline that I can click on to see the picture so I'm only dealing with one picture at a time.

Or something like flipping pages in a catalog works for me also.

Tip Three: Whatever you do, make sure that your load time isn't too slow.

I have clicked out of sites because of slow load times or being bogged down with information to the point I couldn't figure out where to go.

I've especially had issues with some MySpace pages just being overloaded with information and not really saying anything.

The Bottom-Line: Simplicity is key in all that you do...

When you create your business website please never forget this.

It will serve you well in the long run.
